36 - I want to fly like Peter Pan

Morning, its about 6am on a Sunday and I've just slept for 20 hours, bar an hour or two to grab something to eat and a beer, its been a week since my last confession, but I've been working solid, but fucking superbly, I now have about two weeks off, barring a couple of little visits into work, but that is last time I intend to speak about my job for a couple of weeks. So what have I been doing, what's been going on, and what's plan, general highlights/lowlights.

Sports - Newcastle managed to reclaim their rightful place in the top tier of English football, still not back in love with the game, and won't be until the money men fuck off. I will always love the toon, where ever they are. Just gone are the days when 3pm on Saturday is the highlight of my week. Tiger Woods is back, prick. But the best sporting event, this month, perhaps even this decade was my favourite sports person of the modern era Tony McCoy winning the Grand National yesterday on Don't Push It.

Television - Now, I've been fucking knackered for the week, so I don't think I fully appreciated the few excellent shows I have watched. Starting off with, yes my favourite Lost, amazing episode. All about Desmond Hume, it was called Happily Ever After, I'm not a recapper and nor do I want to be, if you want one, try this guy (think I've linked to him before), suffice to say it sent the show into the final stretch, the closing straight. I've bever been a big fan of the character Charlie Pace, always been a bit whiny for me, but he was excellent in this role, and Charles Widmore is starting to grow on me as well. Anyway just watch the episode, it was classic Lost.

I am also now fully entrenched in The Pacific, I never got on board with Band of Brothers, seemed to be a bit to Yee-Haa for me, but this is different, its character driven, the fighting is the filler, and I love that they have stayed true to the facts and shot it all at night, though fuck the easy fix, we're doing this right. Stargate Universe is back, its OK, and a show a called Treme starts tonight on HBO, which means I'm duty bound to at least watch the pilot.

But the real highlight of the week for me was Matt Smith's portrayal of Dr Who, just watched the first two episodes back to back, loved the first episode, I thought it was fantastic, ten out of ten, while the second episode wasn't as good, I think the story was a bit thin, I think the new Dr and his new sidekick were great in both shows. I'm a pretty big Dr. Who fan. And these two have made a great start. They bounced off each other very, very well indeed. Long may it continue. Not saying either episode was nearly as good as this weeks episode of Lost, but they were a genuine surprise.

I've not watched any films, but I have been preparing for my time off. Over the next week, I will hopefully have a few words to say on The Crazies, Shutter Island, Up in the Air amongst others. I also have the always excellent Jonathan Creek I missed last week to watch.

Sorry this has been a bit of a generic update, but its been a quiet week, I did receive my ever cheque for acting work, which was nice. I'm still reading Wheel of Time, I'm up to book 9 now and I'm quickly catching up with there release dates. I'm off to buy the newspapers now, come back make some breakfast, and get settled in front of the television, laptop, book, football, beer, beer, beer for two weeks.

I'll try to catch up a couple of times a day when I'm off, and fingers crossed they won't be as mind numbingly boring as this was to write, and I imagine read.
